Format Change

This is about Thought Of The Day. For three and a half months I have put out a Thought Of The Day and some have rocked and some have been mediocre but they all have been fun to do, even though a few of them were a struggle to even complete. So I want to talk here about completion and what that means.
When Michelangelo finished the Sistine Chapel, did he sit back and go "Ah! My grand work is finished and will glorify this ceiling for hundreds and hundreds of years!" or did he think "Madonna Mia! I really should have drawn God better! I hope The Pope likes it!" and when he finished carving the statue of David and laid down his hammer and chisel was it the same thing- "Mannaggia! His left thumb doesn't look right! I hope nobody notices!".

So it is with all works of art. Writings, books, songs, pictures, performances. There's always that doubt, isn't there, in the artist's mind? Well, not always. Sometimes you nail it, you capture the essence, you put the magic in it and you KNOW without a doubt that you 'got it', whatever 'it' is. It's there, you represented, and you have amazed not only whoever enjoys your art but most of all you have amazed and inspired yourself, which of course leads to wanting to do it again, capture 'it' again.
I daresay I have captured 'it' a few times since starting Thought Of The Day, and that has been really good for me, but there have been a lot of times I have felt that I have missed the mark- sometimes not by much- and the piece wasn't complete. So....
...format change. I am going to try and revisit some pieces before publishing them in an effort to capture more of the essence of whatever subject I am writing about. The plan now is to try and knock out at least two complete Thought Of The Day blog posts a week. There will still be a Thought Of The Day, but that will only exist in draft form and perhaps will never be published.
Can't really call it 'Thought Of The Day' anymore then, can I? Have to think up a new name, think about it some. Until then, that will be it for now. Stay tuned, check in now and again, see whazzup.
